My specialty is working with families who may be experiencing conflicts in the area of relationship dynamics; between parents' and child, extended family, extended family and cross-generational Interdependency. This interdependency can be a huge challenge or stress in and of itself. Stress can present itself in many forms; anxiety, depression, child behavior difficulties, school learning deficits, anger, and/or cut-off relationship.
I bring to life the issues presented through visuals mapping to understand the presenting symptoms. Bowen Family Systems is unique in that it highlights emotional dynamics within the family and interchanges generationally. There is no blame or shame simply history as it has evolved through time. Each family comes with a unique system, no two are alike and that makes therapy a highlight. When we see it as it is, then begin to take embedded patterns and make adjustments for positive change. That is possible and it is awesome.
Children with behavior problems will react to the symptoms of the nuclear family. The Nuclear Family Emotional Process deals with anxiety in the family by, distancing, conflict, over functioning/under functioning.
As positive changes are made children change too. Additional reinforcement can be made by developing behavior plans for children with visual graphic organizers to create images modeling how to change behavior.
I work with victims of Narcissism and religious, emotional, physical abuse. Victims may experience numerous symptoms. Some deep and rooted in survival. In the present PTSD may be debilitating and trying to ignore the symptoms is an agonizing experience. We work in an alliance, together finding the tools and developing a plan to ease pain, changing negative habits/ways of thinking to long-lasting new ways of living. Each person has within them the answer, it is there, we just need to find and sort through the biological, psychological, social, environmental and spiritual aspects unique to the each person who seek help.
